Our Goal in Research and Development

Grünenthal’s goal in Research and Development is to concentrate on giving patient’s needs the highest priority and build further on our core strengths of innovative pain therapies. Our R&D investment ratio is among the highest in the industry

Grünenthal USA is expanding its role in the area of clinical pain research and development. The Department of Clinical Science is committed to high quality scientific input on clinical study designs, clinical study reports and publications. Clinical Science US contributes to exploratory/translational studies in the area of pain, as well as early and late stage clinical development of Grünenthal's pipeline of innovative pain medicines. Clinical Science US also assists in identifying new product ideas, developing research and development proposals, and supporting other efforts to realize Grünenthals’s vision as the most patient-centric, ethical pharmaceutical company.

The Clinical Operations and Medical Monitoring group is responsible for the operational aspects as well as for the medical supervision of all studies performed by Grünenthal in the US. Furthermore, the group also performs trials in Canada and supports the Aachen/Headquarter colleagues in conducting studies in Europe.  The team members plan, prepare and conduct Clinical Trials from phase I to phase III, as well as translational medicine studies. This includes the operational planning but also designing and writing study protocols.
